The borough council works with the police to remove abandoned vehicles.
Abandoned vehicles are a potential fire hazard and the council tries to remove them as quickly as possible - within four hours - to reduce the risk that they become a target for arson or vandalism.

From July 2006 a trial scheme called 'Car Clear' began.
It has been organised by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire Constabulary and Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council, to remove abandoned or dangerous vehicles as quickly as possible.
