A Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) has been prepared by Faber Maunsell on behalf of Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council, Chester City Council and Vale Royal Borough Council.
The SFRA includes a summary for West Cheshire, and a detailed report for each district.
The SFRA explains the causes of flooding. It identifies and assesses the risk of flooding from all sources, including fluvial (rivers and watercourses) and tidal (sea and estuarial) sources. It also considers other sources such as groundwater, drainage and sewerage.
It provides details of flood risk zones in Ellesmere Port and Neston, which are the areas considered to be at risk from different levels of flooding. Details of flood risk locations are also provided, which are areas that have experienced flooding events in the past. The SFRA identifies the level of flood risk at key sites within Ellesmere Port and Neston and notes where a site specific Flood Risk Assessment would be required.
Generally the level of flood risk across Ellesmere Port and Neston district is very low. However there are some locations at risk of flooding, such as Ince Marshes and part of the Stanlow complex.
