As part of the Neston Market Town Initiative (MTI), the borough council has led a shop front improvement scheme in the town centre. It is hoped that the scheme will help to regenerate the town centre, creating a more attractive streetscape in this historic conservation area.
The North West Development Agency approved the scheme on 21 November 2006 and many shop fronts in the town were improved before the scheme came to an end in March 2008.
The approaches to Neston have been targeted with the scheme, and the positive benefits to these key gateways to Neston should soon be apparent.
A guidance document was written that explained the scheme to shopkeepers and gave an idea of appropriate shop front designs. The document was been approved by the Neston Market Town Initiative and by the borough council. It is tailored to meet Neston's specific needs.
