The Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for Ellesmere Port and Neston sets out how the council will consult with the local community when it prepares planning policy documents and when it considers planning applications.

The council adopted its SCI on 8 May 2006. This followed the receipt of a report on 3 May 2006 by an independent Planning Inspector, who was appointed by the government to conduct an examination into the 'soundness' of the SCI. The recommendations of the Inspector are binding on the council.

The council has also released an adoption statement for the SCI. To view this, please click on the link below:

The SCI was subject to extensive consultation during 2005. Informal consultation on a draft SCI was carried out in the summer of 2005. Comments received at this time were taken into account in revising the draft, which was then subject to a formal six week consultation period ending on 5 December 2005.

A summary of consultation carried out prior to submission can be viewed by clicking on the link below:

A number of representations were then made on the submitted SCI. These were collated into a representations document that was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate along with the SCI.

The representation statement included the council's response to representations, which were agreed at Planning Committee on 14 May 2006. To view a copy of the representations statement, please click below:

A hard copy of the SCI is available at a price of £20.00 to consultants or £15.00 to residents of Ellesmere Port & Neston. To order a copy please telephone Gemma Jones on 0151 356 6504 or email Gemma Jones.
