Building Control Team Members

The Building Control Unit is made up of many professional staff drawn from multi-disciplined backgrounds. By working together and pooling their knowledge, a strong team is created whose considerable talent and expertise is available to developers, designers and builders working in the borough.

Meet the Team
As well as ensuring building regulations are observed when work is carried out in the borough, the team also have responsibility for:

Dangerous Structures - The building control section operates a 24 hour, 7 day a week service to support the emergency services where any buildings are considered a danger to the public.

Demolitions - This work involves the co-ordination with statutory undertakers and demolition specialists and any relevant occupiers of properties local to the site.

Licensed Premises - The Borough Solicitor consults the building control section regarding building work which relates to licensed premises.

Temporary Grandstands - Building Control supervise the erection of temporary seating for all types of events/shows in the Borough.

Fire Precautions and means of escape in case of a fire

Loft conversions

Access and facilities for disabled people

Energy Conservation

Drainage

Conservatories

Exempt buildings

All issues affecting building regulations
