Vauxhall's factory at Ellesmere Port is to be one of four plants in Europe that will build the new Astra.

Reported Health and Safety Statistics for the Borough
Employers are required by law to report certain accidents to their local authority or the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Such accidents include fatalities, major injuries, where employees have been off work for more than 3 days and where members of the public have been taken to hospital as a result of an accident.
The procedure for reporting accidents has recently changed. Employers will be able to notify RIDDOR reports (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence Regulations) directly to a central 'Incident Contact Centre' at Caerphilly. The Incident Contact Centre will then notify the authority or the HSE on your behalf. Accidents can be reported by telephone, internet, fax or by post as follows:
