Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council's Environmental Protection Unit is responsible for the enforcement of health and safety procedures in commercial premises including retail and wholesale premises, warehouses, hotels, sports and leisure facilities and residential accommodation. Health and Safety Enforcement Policy

Duties of the Health and Safety Team include:

Inspecting a proportion of commercial premises every year
Investigating complaints and enquiries by members of the public and employees
Investigating accidents at work and taking action to prevent their recurrence.
Reported Accident Statistics within the borough
Advising businesses how to comply with legislation
Promoting workplace initiatives (e.g. no smoking policies)
Promoting health campaigns(including fireworks campaign, European Health and Safety Week)
Registration of commercial premises / business operations
Registration of premises under the Sunday Trading Act 1994
Help when planning large events (pub fun days, concerts, charity functions etc.)
